On Wednesday 10 July, University of Technology Sydney (UTS) held its third annual ‘Law Tech Challenge for Social Justice Grand Final’, where teams showcased legal applications designed to promote social justice.

Over the course of the Law Tech Challenge, teams worked alongside not-for-profit organisations, first identifying a real-world social justice issue and then creating a legal application in response to this social justice issue. Each team comprised of UTS law students and a lawyer from Allens. Through the use of Neota Logic’s artificial intelligence technology, teams with no previous coding experience were able to create online and fully functional solutions.

The team presented their finished products to an expert panel of judges including Richard Spurio, Managing Partner at Allens, Alison Telfer, Managing Director Blackrock, and Professor Lesley Hitchens, Dean of UTS Law.
Due to the exceptional quality of all the applications, both teams Pod and InterAct were announced the joint winners of the Grand Final. Also team GloveIT was announced the Social Media Champion.
